In the Springtime
I like to “lighten up” a bit in the Spring and Summer, not in my Type A personality or sarcasm, but in my lashes! I start to ditch the extensions and false lashes of Fall and Winter and try to hunt down a mascara that keeps up with the changing conditions of my busy schedule (i.e. meetings to sports practices to dinner) while creating more volume and dimension to my lashes and conditioning my lashes all at the same time.
Bluemercury luxury beauty retail and spa
I have not been able to find a suitable lash product for the lighter months until now. I was in Bluemercury, replenishing my Trish McEvoy Precision Brow Shaper ($30), which is a fabulous product and mentioned that I could use a new mascara for volume.
I was shown “Super Stellar Extreme Volume Mascara” by Lune+Aster®, a brand created by Marla Beck, co-Founder and CEO of Bluemercury Inc., the nation’s largest and fastest-growing luxury beauty retailer and spa. In 2015, Bluemercury Inc. was acquired by Macy’s for $210 million.
I figured I would give the mascara a try, but my hopes were not very high. I am really tough to please in the mascara world, so if nothing else, I was trying something new and figured “Why not?”
I used the Lune+Aster® Super Stellar Extreme Volume Mascara ($24) the next day and completely understand the reason for its name. This is an insanely amazing product if you have natural lash length and are looking to create volume.
Not only can I create dramatic eyes for night-time that rival my false lashes and extensions, but a quick brush in the morning with one coat gives me all of the volume that I need for the day.
Lune+Aster® was designed to appeal to the woman who is doing it all. I would say that is every woman I know, since society seems to keep telling us we can do everything, even if we can’t. If you are short on time and short on effort to get the product on, Lune+Aster® is targeting you.
Another perk? Lune+Aster® is vegan and was created to reflect Beck’s vegan wellness philosophy. You may wonder: “What is a vegan make up? The same as a vegan diet. Vegan does not contain any animal ingredients or animal-derived ingredients including collagen, honey or beeswax.
It is important to make the distinction that a vegan make up may not be cruelty-free. Cruelty-free items are tested on animals, a different topic than vegan ingredients. The good news about Lune+Aster® is that the brand does not test on animals. The bad news is that I do not see Lune+Aster® listed as “cruelty free,” something to keep in mind if that is of importance to you in your lifestyle.
I can tell you that Lune+Aster® uses vitamin-infused products including Vitamins E, C, and B5; making it beneficial for your skin, while providing color. Products are free of parabens and phthalates.
While I can only speak to the mascara, I plan to try the Lune+Aster® Cover & Correct/Tinted Moisturizer Cream broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 50+/PA+++ ($52) in the near future.
