It’s Hollywood and Hublot premiered the first ever animated movie for the MP-05 LaFerrari Sapphire watch with the world-record power reserve. This outstanding watch is truly a “First, Unique and Different” tribute to the unique LaFerrari FXX K supercar – both are the stars of Digital Domain’s new “blockbuster” movie.
Where else but Hollywood could be the backdrop for the world premiere of ‘MP-05 LaFerrari movie – A tribute to the FXX K’ ? The sneak peek was on 7 September 2016 with the release date being on the next day.
On the roof of the Ace Museum with the Hollywood hills in the distance, VIP clients were transported to a Drive-In Hublot Theatre cocooned luxuriously in Ferraris.
They had a preview and world premiere of the first animated film from Hublot; a joint production with Digital Domain, world leaders in action movies and visual effects. Headlining the bill is the red-lining 1200 HP hybrid supercar, the FXX K, and a Hublot superwatch with a 50-day power reserve.
Posing at the sneak preview were Greg Simonian (President of Westime Los Angeles), Pierre Michel (Film Director, Digital Domian), John Simonian (Westime Owner), Ricardo Guadalupe (Hublot CEO), Giancomo Mattioli (Ferrari Beverly Hills Owner) , Jean-Francoise Sberro (Hublot USA Managing Director)
“A first among firsts. “LaFerrari” Sapphire brings together the best and most cutting-edge technology – in the construction of the watch and its movement, the FXX K supercar that provided its inspiration, and now in the digital revolution provided by the best and most famous animated film studio, Digital Domain. So I know this watch by heart, every feature, every detail, the film literally plunged me into sensations that I have never felt before. I feel as if I am this watch, this car; I am speed, technology, invention, the record!” – Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot
The whole FXX K environment has been reproduced with computer graphics special effects. The virtual reality is enhanced by a Hollywood action-movie soundtrack based on the digital capture of the Ferrari engine sounds. This animated film tells the story of the HUB9005.H1.PN.1 watch movement and the unique design of its sapphire case. The MP-05 “LaFerrari” watch was inspired by the car of the same name, and its evolution – the MP-05 “LaFerrari” Sapphire – has been inspired by the FXX K supercar.
The watch case is modular and has been machined from 7 blocks of sapphire after more than 600 hours work and precise 3D cutting to produce an ultra-light 53.5 grams on the wrist. Being transparent, the case allows full view of the unique tourbillon movement built from ultra-lightweight carbon components. It has a record-breaking power reserve of 50 days and 11 spring barrels coupled in-series as a ‘spine’ down the centre of the watch provide power to drive the 637 components of the movement, a large number of parts. There is no “crown” for winding the watch or time adjustment; everything is done with a miniature electric “power tool” provided.
The entry ticket into this exclusive watch owners’ club of 20 members may get just a bit of change back from $600,000! Depending on exchange rates, maybe $25,000 in small change.
Not many people know of Digital Domain but most of us have seen their special effects in more than 100 movies including “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Maleficent,” “Iron Man 3”, the “Transformers” trilogy, “TRON: Legacy” and “Titanic.” Their wizardry has won multiple Academy Awards® and their media applications are seen in thousands of commercial, video game and music video productions. The original Digital Domain also created ‘digital humans’ for concert performances and co-produced the feature film “Ender’s Game”.
Hublot has created a digital platform where you can virtually play with the MP-05 LaFerrari Sapphire watch in 3D and delve into the heart of its construction. #MP05LAFERRARI
